‘Primal Mother’
“Remember where you came from.”
I dedicate this painting to all the WOMEN - past, present and emerging.
"Primal Mother" is a celebration of what it means to be a woman—our power, our resilience, and the infinite creativity that flows through us. At its centre is the womb, the cradle of life. This piece honours the physical and spiritual energy alive in every woman. Painting entirely with my hands made this work feel deeply personal—it’s raw, real, and instinctive and embodied.
The palette—blush pinks, deep reds, soft whites, and velvety blacks—reflects the physicality of flesh and blood, life and death. These tones pulse with vitality, grounded by darkness: the void, the great unknown from which all existence begins.
At the heart of the piece is the woman’s nipple—simple, sacred, and powerful. It’s a universal symbol of nourishment, connection, and the maternal gift of life. But it’s also a challenge. Society has spent centuries shaming and censoring women’s bodies, turning something so natural into something taboo. With "Primal Mother," I want to reclaim it—not as something to hide or silence, but as a source of empowerment, transformation, and life itself.
Creating this piece felt deeply intimate. Painting with my hands allowed me to fully immerse myself in the work, feeling my way through every textured movement as the artwork took form. The imperfections, the raw edges, and the ridges left by my fingers speaks to creation as something deeply human, physical, and personal.
This is art you can feel—because it’s made with nothing but touch and presence.
"Primal Mother" is more than a painting—it’s a movement of recognition which demands respect, It’s for the women who paved the way, for the ones breaking barriers today, and for those yet to come. It’s a reminder to honour where we come from, to reclaim our bodies as vessels of power, and to unapologetically take up space in the world.
This is art made to empower, to inspire, and too ignite.
This is "Primal Mother."
