‘It Begins and Ends With Colour’
1.2m x 2m
The process of creating this painting was highly enjoyable. I wanted to take my time absorbing each layer as it presented itself to me; to feel what resonated and what did not. Many layers and hours went into the creation of this painting and overall, I am very pleased with the final outcome.
This painting is a contemporary modern piece with beautiful depth with soft and strong values. I found a delicate balance between free flowing, sporadic movements paired with deliberate and concise paint strokes.
Originally I was drawn to muted greens and autumnal purples for this painting but as the layers progressed more blue hues and tones came to the for front of this painting. I continued with what I felt called to paint and added in contracting oranges and warmer tones, inspired by the sun setting over the ocean.
Transcending into the space in your upstairs landing, I wanted to create something that would hold a bright vibrancy with striking impact as you walked up the stairs.
It’s humbling to know that even though we are able to see an array of colours with our eyes, there are spectrums of colours we are still unable to see.
Doesn’t every piece of art begin and end with colour?
